(The Penrose Preternatural) 37 Dead In Magic Based Terror Attack

Editors Note: Many readers of the magical world might have viewed our last report, regarding the casualties in Penrose City, to be a falsehood. As a source covering the mundane and magical, it is our job to cater to the normal populous, as well as the magical world. As such, our new policy is to list magical articles with the tag: The Penrose Preternatural. This should, we hope, clear up any confusion with reports and their designated audiences.

Earlier today, an attack was conducted on civilians within Penrose City. At least thirty seven human casualties have been confirmed, with many more injured, as a result of the unprecedented assault. The most reasonable explanation for this attack may have been a pipe explosion, as we have reported prior to this article, however this is not the case. The truth is much more sinister.

With the help of our journalistic team, and Third Eye users, we have been able to determine the attack as magical in nature. The culprit appears to be a Spirit User, no doubt of dark allegiance, if not a monster girl in her own right. Although we cannot liken this attack to any Patron, the most likely culprit would be a follower of a Horror, although our onsite reporters felt no such presence, nor intent.

What was determined, was that no Beacon girl was dispatched to deal with the incident, apprehend the culprit, or clear up the aftermath, despite their jobs to be the elimination of Dark Magical Girls. Of the girls that did arrive on scene, as seen in our overhead surveillance footage (below), none have been identified as a Beacon operative in any way. It can be assumed that this is due to the Beacon’s current recovery after the attack on their headquarters just months ago, and the recuperation efforts they have had to undertake, but to allow a culprit of this malevolence go unpunished is incredibly unlike them.

We don’t seek to belittle the Beacon in any way through these accusations, and as such we urge any witnesses to the event, who might know the identity of the culprit, come forward. Your information will be passed onto The Beacon in the form of an anonymous tip, so that they might hunt down to person who committed the attack and deal with them as they see fit.

After confirmations were made with Beacon sources after a formal complaint was filed with the PR team, it has been brought to the attention of the editorial team that a mistake in information has occurred. The paragraphs above detail the report that no Beacon operatives were noted on the scene during the event, cleanup, nor general aftermath of the attack. It has been brought to the team that this information is false.

The reporters in charge of the investigation failed to include the presence of Beacon operatives in their notes, and while we at The Penrose Independent pride ourselves on being neutral and professional, we understand that the comments made against Beacon as of the reports publication were unwarranted.

New information holds that Beacon agents were indeed dispatched, and were present on the scene to assist in the aftermath of the attack, helping to heal wounded, transfer bodies, and clear up the area as best as possible. The overhead footage recorded by our reporters does indeed see several Magical Girls of unknown allegiance dealing with the attack, however due to a lack of information we could not reliably say that they were Beacon agents.

The reporters that caused this mistake have been assigned to further training in the hopes of preventing mistakes like this in the future. It is for this reason that The Penrose Independent formally apologises for the mistake, and vow to ensure that nothing of the sort will occur within our papers in the future. New systems have already been set in place to ensure better communication between reporters, the editorial teams, and key witnesses.
